Samsung China Exports Surge 207.7% in First Half

According to Samsung Electronics’ semiannual report released on August 14, the company recorded significant growth in exports to both China and the United States during the first half of this year, with exports to China surpassing those to the U.S. market.

The report showed that Samsung Electronics’ exports to the United States reached KRW 70.6466 trillion in the first half of the year, more than doubling from KRW 33.4759 trillion during the same period last year. Meanwhile, exports to China totaled KRW 88.6004 trillion, representing a 207.7% increase compared with KRW 28.7918 trillion in the first half of the previous year.

Samsung Electronics did not disclose regional sales figures separately for its DX (Device eXperience) and DS (Device Solutions) divisions in the semiannual report. However, industry observers believe that the surge in AI server and data center investments has driven strong demand for high-performance memory products such as HBM. At the same time, tight supply and demand conditions for DRAM and NAND flash memory have pushed prices higher, becoming a key factor behind the company’s export growth.

Samsung Electronics is currently supplying HBM3E and HBM4 products to major technology companies, including NVIDIA. In the first half of the year, Samsung’s DS division generated KRW 209.2 trillion in revenue, accounting for 68.5% of the company’s total revenue of KRW 305.4 trillion. The division also contributed KRW 142.9 trillion in operating profit, representing 97.4% of Samsung Electronics’ overall operating profit.

In the Chinese market, Samsung Electronics’ semiconductor exports and sales include not only server-related products but also mobile-focused components such as LPDDR memory, NAND flash, image sensors, and display driver ICs (DDIs). The continued expansion of AI infrastructure and growing demand for advanced semiconductor solutions are expected to further support Samsung’s memory business growth.
