DIY Digital Caliper Power Switch Modification

If you happen to have a plastic digital caliper with an automatic power-off function, you may find that although the automatic shutdown is designed to save power, it only turns off the display while the internal circuit continues to consume power. After a few days, the battery can be completely drained. Frequent charging can be very inconvenient when you need to use the caliper, so you may suddenly come up with the idea of installing a toggle switch in this position. First, you need to take apart the digital caliper.

Then, you can insert the switch into the opening, and it fits perfectly without requiring any additional fixing.

Next, you need to modify the circuit board by disconnecting the positive power line.

Then, you can solder the switch into place.

After that, you can put everything back together.

At this point, you may suddenly discover a major problem: the housing is too thick, and the switch lever is not long enough.

You only need to shave off a ring of material from the housing, and the switch can then be operated normally.

The modification is now complete.
