MediaTek Q3 Revenue Hits Record, ASIC Growth Ahead

According to to MediaTek's announcement on October 8, 2026, the company's consolidated revenue reached NT$55.399 billion in September, down 13.69% from August but up 1.97% year over year. For the third quarter of 2026, consolidated revenue totaled NT$168.057 billion, increasing 10.43% from the previous quarter and 18.27% compared with the same period in 2025. The result marked a record high for quarterly revenue and exceeded MediaTek's original guidance range of NT$152.2 billion to NT$159.8 billion. For the first nine months of 2026, cumulative consolidated revenue reached NT$469.391 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of 5.3%.

Despite forecasts that global smartphone shipments will decline 15% year over year in 2026, MediaTek is strengthening its position in the mobile processor market by targeting both premium flagship devices and price-sensitive entry-level smartphones. During its previous quarterly earnings conference, the company noted that customers were focusing on flagship models offering differentiated user experiences alongside affordable devices. To address these market demands, MediaTek introduced two flagship processors simultaneously for the first time: the Dimensity 9600 Pro, an advanced flagship AI mobile SoC manufactured using TSMC's 2nm process, and the standard Dimensity 9600M, built on TSMC's 3nm process. The first commercial smartphones powered by these processors are expected to begin reaching the market in the near term.

Beyond smartphone chipsets, cloud computing and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) have emerged as important growth drivers for MediaTek. The company is working closely with a major U.S.-based cloud service provider (CSP) to develop AI accelerators for data centers. Its first data center AI accelerator ASIC is expected to enter volume production in the fourth quarter of 2026. MediaTek anticipates that revenue from its data center business will exceed US$2 billion in 2026, highlighting the growing contribution of AI infrastructure to its business.

Looking ahead, MediaTek expects its data center business to accelerate in 2027, targeting opportunities in a serviceable addressable market (SAM) estimated at US$80 billion. The company has raised its market share target to 15%–20%, reflecting its ambitions in the rapidly expanding AI computing sector. Meanwhile, development of its second AI accelerator ASIC is progressing smoothly. Designed to deliver higher computing performance while optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO), the next-generation chip is on track for volume production in 2028. These initiatives position MediaTek to diversify its revenue streams beyond smartphone processors and expand its presence in data center AI infrastructure.
