Hot-swappable, AC redundant 2U power supply with ATS delivers up to 30 kW at 97% efficiency
Advanced Energy's new Artesyn 2U shelf, which has a hot-swappable controller and can accept up to twelve 48 V, 3 kW open rack rectifiers with power up to 30 kW, boasts power supply with a demonstrated efficiency of 97 percent. On detection of primary AC power loss, these rectifiers have an integrated automatic transfer switch (ATS) that switches input to a secondary AC source without interrupting output voltage.
"As data center operators try to match the growing power demands of the latest high-performance CPUs, minimizing power usage and driving down costs are significant concerns," said Harry Soin, senior director of technical marketing for hyper-scale data centers at Advanced Energy. "Moving from 12 V to 48 V rack power topologies reduces conduction losses by a factor of 16, while open systems compliance maintains interoperability and lowers total system costs ." The Open Rack power shelf and rectifiers from Advanced Energy directly solve these needs while also incorporating ATS technology for maximum availability."
The ORv3 30 kW power shelf from Advanced Energy is compatible with star, delta, and single-phase input configurations and comes with a hot-pluggable, DMTF Redfish?-compliant Shelf Controller for easy, secure monitoring and control over Ethernet . Its 48 V, 3 kW rectifiers are single-phase AC-DC power supplies that convert input voltages of 200 Vac to 277 Vac to 48 V output. A narrow output voltage band minimizes oversizing and allows for a 4:1 DC-DC conversion for 12 V loads downstream.
Both the power shelf and the rectifiers meet EN61000-4-5 and EN55035 EMC standards, as well as IEC /UL/EN62368 safety requirements.
