Nexperia introduces a range of A-selection Zener diodes for precise voltage reference with the industry’s lowest tolerance of ±1%

Nijmegen -- The comprehensive product range covers every application from 1.8 V to 75 V

Nexperia, a leader in critical semiconductors, today revealed the first A-selection Zener diodes in the industry. The BZT52H-A (SOD123F) and BZX384-A (SOD323) series give a higher accuracy voltage reference than the B (±2%) and C (±5%) variations, with a tolerance of just ±1%. The two series are also available as Q-portfolio devices to address the increased demands of mobile, portable/wearable, automotive, and industrial applications, as well as increasing regulatory requirements.

According to Paula Stümer, product manager at Nexperia, "Nexperia's A-selection Zener diode range covers every application from 1.8 V to 75 V while delivering an accurate voltage reference with the lowest possible tolerance." "Engineers can go to the limitations of the MOSFET, if applied to limit voltage for the gate-source path or drain-gate path, or choose from a wider variety of acceptable MOSFETs, by substituting B- or C-selection devices with pad compatible A-selection Zener devices."

The nominal working voltage range of A-selection Zener diodes is 1.8 V to 75 V. (E24 range). The devices feature a non-repetitive peak reverse power dissipation of ≤40W, total power dissipation ≤250mW and low differential thermal resistance. The low tolerance allows engineers to substitute more expensive voltage reference devices with greater accuracy voltages, which is especially useful for test and measurement applications. Instead of directly safeguarding the MOSFET.  a Zener diode connected in parallel to the drain-gate line is a more cost-effective option. The MOSFET turns on when the Zener breaks through, preventing the drain source from avalanche breakdown.

AEC-Q101 and  ISO/TS16949  automotive quality standards are met by the A-selection Zeners, which are also available as Q-portfolio devices. These standards are designed to meet the requirements of automotive OEMs for Stress Test Qualification and quality management systems. Customer demands, on the other hand, are evolving, and more non-automotive applications are requiring quality-related services like  PPAP  (Production Part Approval Process) and increased durability. Another distinction between standard and Q-portfolio devices is the  Product Change Notifications  (PCN) term, which has been increased from 90 days to 180 days in accordance with  JEDEC  guidelines. Furthermore, all parts are guaranteed for a minimum of 10 years and have a shelf life of more than two years.

Nexperia continues to invest in technology and in-house manufacturing capacity. The A-selection Zeners are already available as samples and in volume production quantities.
