On October 13, Wei Zhejia, president of TSMC, said at the legal meeting that customer demand for 3nm exceeded TSMC's supply, and production will be full next year.
According to Taiwanese media "Juheng.com", Wei Zhejia pointed out that the demand for 3 nanometers exceeded expectations, partly due to the ongoing problem of machine delivery. It is estimated that 3-nanometer revenue will account for about 4-6% next year.
"TSMC is working closely with equipment suppliers to prepare more capacity for the 3nm process to support strong customer demand next year, 2024 and beyond," Wei Zhejia said.
In addition, for the 2nm technology process, Wei Zhejia revealed that everything has been going well so far, even better than expected, and mass production is still expected in 2025 according to the schedule.
It is reported that 2 nanometers will use a new nanosheet (nanosheet) technology, and compared with 3 nanometers technology, the efficiency is greatly improved. At the same power consumption, the speed is increased by 10~15%, or at the same speed, the power consumption is reduced by 25~30%.
