According to Taiwanese media "Economic Daily", Hon Hai and Vedanta, an Indian multinational company, announced earlier this year that they would set up a joint venture to produce semiconductors in India. A few days ago, a senior executive of the Vedanta Group stated that the 28nm 12-inch wafer fab planned to be built by the two parties is planned to be put into operation in 2025. The initial output will be 40,000 wafers per month, and the full-speed production will start the following year.
Indian media reported in the middle of last month that the joint venture company signed a memorandum of cooperation with the local government of Gujarat province, and will invest about US$20 billion to set up a factory there. Vedanta executives confirmed to a reporter from Taiwan Media Central News today that the two parties are eyeing a settlement in Dholera, Gujarati Province. According to reports, the first stage of electronic manufacturing includes semiconductor chips and display glass.
