Renesas Electronics has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Steradian, an Indian 4D imaging radar solutions provider.
It is reported that Steradian is a start-up company established in 2016, with a high level of expertise in radar, such as in 4D radar transceivers in the 76-81 GHz frequency band, in addition to high performance, Steradian also has high integration through high integration technology for miniaturization and high power efficiency.
Given the growth potential of the automotive radar market, Renesas will add automotive radar products to the Steradian product portfolio. Renesas will develop an automotive radar solution that combines the same automotive radar product with an ADAS SoC (system-on-chip) for processing radar signals, a power management IC (PMIC), timing products and identification software.
Previously, Hidetoshi Shibata, President and CEO of Renesas Electronics, said: "Radar combines various sensors and is essential for the realization of ADAS. We believe that by acquiring Steradian's excellent technology and engineers, we will be able to further strengthen our presence in leadership in the automotive sector.”
