According to Korean media reports, despite the sluggish TV market, Samsung aims to ship more than 40 million units next year.
The tech giant wants to cement its leadership in the industry and believes it must ship 40 million units a year, the sources said. About 39 million of these will be liquid crystal display (LCD) models, while 1.5 million are planned for quantum dot (QD)-OLED models, excluding potential white (W)-OLED models.
Samsung will source LCD panels for its TVs from CSOT, HKC, LG Display, BOE and AUO.
CSOT's supply will exceed 10 million units, and Samsung intends to support CSOT after a dispute with BOE over a marketing agreement. Samsung subsidiary Samsung Display, which also holds a stake in CSOT, had earlier sold its Suzhou-based LCD factory to its Chinese partner.
