On November 23, Wang Meihua, Minister of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, said that TSMC’s 5nm factory in the United States will not be mass-produced until 2024, but in Taiwan, 3nm has already been mass-produced in Nanke, and 2nm is in Hsinchu. 1nm is preparing for the land of Phase 3 of Longke. For this reason, she said with confidence that TSMC's most advanced manufacturing process will definitely stay in Taiwan, China.
Wang Meihua emphasized that TSMC's most advanced manufacturing process will definitely stay in Taiwan. She explained that TSMC is currently going to the United States to set up a 5-nanometer factory, which is not expected to be mass-produced until 2024.
Wang Meihua further stated that TSMC's 3nm has now been trial mass-produced in Nanke; the 2nm part is also preparing land in Hsinchu; for the 1nm process, the Taiwan government of China has prepared the third phase of Zhuke Longtan Park to make the future 1nm factory Stationed, so "the most advanced technology will definitely stay in Taiwan, China."
When it comes to chip production capacity, Wang Meihua said that Taiwan's current overall chip production is about 2 million pieces per month, while TSMC's US 5nm plant is 20,000 pieces per month. This shows that TSMC's main production base is still in Taiwan, China, and Taiwan will still be a The most important chip supply base in the world.
Wang Meihua said that the government's proposal to amend Article 10-2 of the Industry and Innovation Regulations is to make the key position of Taiwan's semiconductor and other industries more consolidated and innovative.
