LG Electronics to Launch Transparent OLED TVs in 2024, Sources Say

Earlier this year, LG Display proposed to LG Electronics' TV division Home Entertainment the idea of launching a 55-inch transparent OLED TV. Sources believe that LG Electronics may launch a transparent OLED TV as early as 2024.

According to Korean media The Elec, LG Electronics plans to cover the transparent OLED TV panel with strengthened glass, and sources said that LG Electronics also believes that it needs to carefully consider the appearance of this TV model.

According to data from research firm Omdia, OLED TV shipments in 2021 will increase by 80% year-on-year to 6.53 million units. Among them, LG Electronics was the largest supplier with shipments of 4.05 million units. Meanwhile, LG Display produced 8 million OLED panels.

It is reported that since 2020, LG Display has been providing transparent OLED displays to transportation companies in China and Japan, so we can already use them on some subway trains in major Chinese cities (including Beijing, Shenzhen and Fuzhou) and some ground trains in Japan See it in action.
