U.S.-India cooperation aims at fields such as semiconductors and AI, trying to counter China and Russia

According to Juheng.com, the United States and India launched a cooperation plan yesterday to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence, so as to jointly counter China and Russia.

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and senior officials from both countries met at the White House on Tuesday to launch the US–India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies ).

Through cooperation, the U.S. government hopes to deploy more mobile networks in India, and at the same time encourage companies from the two countries to communicate more on semiconductors such as computing chips and rocket systems.

Sullivan believes that the geopolitical challenges brought about by China and Russia are not the sole reason for the US-India cooperation initiative.

Sullivan said that India is interested in increasing the production capacity of packaging and traditional chips. He also said that India's resistance to building chip production facilities is caused by political and policy will issues, not a lack of professional talents.

India proposed "Made in India" in 2014, and related companies are making continuous efforts. Not long ago, it was reported that India's Tata Group was negotiating with Wistron, an Apple iPhone foundry, hoping to acquire Wistron's only manufacturing plant in India at a price of up to about 612.6 million US dollars. If the two parties fail to reach an acquisition agreement, a joint venture may be established.

Industry insiders pointed out that in order to meet the expectations of India's transformation, India must continue to reduce red tape and simplify labor laws. Ensuring companies can obtain land is another issue that needs to be resolved.
