German silicon wafer manufacturer warns: terminal market slowdown may drag down this year's performance

German silicon wafer maker Siltronic (Shichuang) said that current customer demand for its silicon wafers is still strong, but the slowdown in the end market may drag down its performance in 2023.

Shichuang noted that customer demand for its products remained high so far this year, but added that some customers expect fewer orders in the first half of 2023, according to Reuters.

It is reported that silicon wafers are an important material for semiconductors and are the basis of electronic chips used in products such as smartphones, computers, and electric vehicles. German chip maker Infineon is one of Shichuang's largest customers. Infineon said a few days ago that we have seen significantly weaker demand in areas such as smartphones, personal computers and data centers.

In addition, Shichuang's customers also include Intel, TSMC and Samsung.
