According to media reports, when the U.S. officials are actively courting India and trying to support it to undertake the transfer of the industrial chain, the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) recently announced the establishment of a joint working group with the Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) to strengthen the global cooperation between the two countries. Collaboration in the semiconductor ecosystem.
According to the SIA statement, the working group's specific goals include:
Developing a 'readiness assessment' on the Indian semiconductor ecosystem;
Bring together industry, government, and academic stakeholders to identify near-term industry opportunities and facilitate long-term strategic development of complementary semiconductor ecosystems;
Advise on opportunities and challenges to enhance India's role in the global semiconductor value chain, including chip manufacturing;
Identify and facilitate workforce development and exchange opportunities to benefit both countries;
John Neuffer, President and CEO of SIA, said, "We are delighted to launch this new initiative with our counterpart IESA in India, already a major hub for semiconductor research, chip design and device engineering, but with even greater future potential. This task force will help identify tangible ways to unlock this potential by strengthening U.S.-India collaboration in the global chip ecosystem."
Krishna Moorthy, President and CEO of IESA said, "IESA is delighted to be part of this new working group in partnership with SIA. It will be an important platform to bring together global resources to identify actionable plans to support India in increasing its influence in the global chip industry, and then enable global collaboration to execute programs across all links in the design and manufacturing supply chain, and develop semiconductor talent for the world."
