According to recent research data from Canalys, the shipment of PCs (including desktops, laptops, and workstations) in China reached 48.5 million units in 2022, a decrease of 15% from 2021. However, Huawei's PC shipments increased by 89.1% YoY, securing the fifth spot in the ranking.
The report indicates that the PC market (including desktops, laptops, and workstations) in China declined by 26% YoY in Q4 2022. Desktop shipments (including desktop workstations) decreased by 3.7 million units, a YoY decline of 34%, while laptop shipments (including mobile workstations) were 8.5 million units, a YoY decline of 39%.
In terms of specific computer brands, Lenovo remained the top brand, followed by Dell and HP, but all saw declines in shipments, with drops of 15.5%, 21.5%, and 16.6% respectively. Huawei showed the most impressive performance in desktop and laptop devices last year, with a significant YoY increase of 89.1%, placing it in fifth place. In Q4 2022, Huawei even surpassed Asus to rank fourth.
Canalys predicts that PC shipments in 2023 will tend to stabilize, with a shipment volume of about 48.3 million units, similar to that of 2022. Due to the gradual recovery of the economy, the commercial sector will rebound by 10% in 2023, while the consumer sector will continue to decline by 9% and is expected to recover only in the fourth quarter. Canalys expects desktop shipments (including desktop workstations) to increase by 15% in 2023, reaching 17.3 million units, while laptop shipments (including mobile workstations) will decline by 7% to 30.9 million units.
