Huawei set to unveil latest devices, including new Kirin 710A-powered smartphone, at Spring Launch Event

Huawei is set to release a new smartphone on March 23, featuring the Huawei P60 and Mate X3, as well as a new smartwatch and the Changxiang 60 phone, which is said to feature the Kirin 710A chipset. The Kirin 710 series is a low-end chipset developed by Huawei and was first used in the Huawei Nova3i in July 2018. The Kirin 710A is manufactured by SMIC, using 14nm process technology and has a clock speed of 2.0GHz, making it a downgraded version of the Kirin 710. The release of the Kirin 710A chipset represents a breakthrough in domestic semiconductor technology for China.

In addition to the news of the Kirin 710 series, there have been rumors of progress on the Kirin 9010. However, indications suggest that Huawei has already cleared its inventory of HiSilicon Kirin chips. According to a market research report by Counterpoint Research for Q3 2022, MediaTek has held the top spot in global smartphone application processor market share for eight consecutive quarters, while the shipment of Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin chips has approached zero. Due to the US ban, TSMC and Samsung are unable to manufacture chips for Huawei, which means that the Kirin 9010 cannot be mass-produced and can only be used for testing and validation.

The industry is eagerly awaiting the return of the Kirin chipset, but it is unlikely that a high-end CPU will be released first, given the current situation.
