Ambiq's Apollo4 Lite Blue Lite SoCs: Ultra-Low-Power Solution

Ambiq, a leader in low-power System-on-Chip (SoC) design, has recently introduced a groundbreaking solution for the electronic components industry. The new product, called Apollo4 Lite Blue Lite SoCs, is designed to achieve ultra-low power consumption with an impressive working current as low as 4µA/MHz in Active mode. This innovation offers a comprehensive hardware and software solution that enables high-level intelligent operations for battery-powered devices without compromising their battery life.

Ambiq, founded in 2010, specializes in developing chip products for the Internet of Things (IoT) with a focus on ultra-low power consumption. Their pioneering technology, known as Subthreshold Power Optimized Technology (SPOT®), has set a new standard for low-power semiconductors, making chips more efficient and power-friendly.

The Apollo4 Lite Blue Lite SoC is built on Ambiq's proprietary SPOT platform and features a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4 core with a floating-point unit. This powerful combination, along with Arm Artisan physical IP, supports Ambiq's always-on user experience, including real-time voice processing and impressive image display capabilities. The SoC also boasts 2MB of MRAM and 1.4MB of SRAM, providing ample computational and storage capacity for handling complex algorithms and neural networks, while delivering vibrant and smooth images. Additionally, the SoC can be easily expanded with external storage through Ambiq's high-bandwidth MSPI and eMMC interfaces.

The Apollo4 Lite Blue Lite SoC is available in two packaging options: a 146-pin 5×5mm^2 BGA package with 84 GPIOs, and a 131-pin 4.7×4.7mm^2 BGA package with 75 GPIOs. It serves as a versatile application processor, offering a fully integrated audio subsystem, SDIO interface for mobile network/WI-FI® connectivity, stereo PDM channels, and a stereo I2S channel. The SoC also includes various digital and analog peripheral interfaces, along with an integrated ADC.

Ambiq previously introduced the Apollo4 SoC product family on September 14, 2020, and the Apollo4 Lite Blue Lite SoC is an extension of this series. Alongside the Apollo4 Lite Blue Lite, Ambiq has also launched the Apollo4 Plus Blue Plus SoC, further expanding their range of products for the electronic components industry.
