In accordance with reports from reliable sources, Apple's upcoming iPhone 16 series, slated for release in the autumn of next year, is poised to feature cutting-edge A18 chips. These chips will be manufactured using TSMC's advanced second-generation 3nm process technology.

This development marks a pivotal moment for TSMC, as it underscores their capacity to deliver chips in substantial quantities well in advance of the iPhone 16 series launch, ensuring seamless support for Apple's chip requirements.

In contrast to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, which were powered by A17 Pro chips produced with N3B process technology, the iPhone 16 series is expected to introduce a performance boost. It will be equipped with both A18 and A18 Pro chips, both fabricated by TSMC using the N3E process, the second-generation 3nm process technology. This technological advancement promises to reduce costs, elevate chip performance, and enhance energy efficiency.

TSMC has solidified its partnership with Apple, securing substantial order commitments. The company is currently progressing toward mass production of chips employing the N3E process technology. By the end of the current year, 3nm chip sales are projected to contribute significantly, accounting for an estimated 4-6% of TSMC's total revenue, amounting to a substantial $3.4 billion.

Furthermore, earlier this year, Apple secured the majority of TSMC's 3nm chip production capacity. The latest developments suggest that Apple is on track to secure 100% of TSMC's production capacity by 2023, thanks in part to shifts in Intel's CPU design schedules. This news carries immense significance, underscoring the rising demand for cutting-edge chips and TSMC's pivotal role in supplying Apple's future iPhone models.
