Exynos 2400 GPU: Doubled Speed, Equals Snapdragon 750

In the latest development on December 23rd, Samsung is on the verge of unveiling its highly anticipated Exynos 2400, the next-generation flagship mobile platform. As details continue to emerge, a noteworthy leak indicates a substantial upgrade in the clock speed of the integrated GPU, the Xclipse 940, doubling its performance compared to the previous generation.

Initial specifications reveal that the Exynos 2400 boasts a sophisticated ten-core architecture, featuring a combination of one Cortex-X4 large core at 3.10GHz, two Cortex-A720 large cores at 2.90GHz, three Cortex-A720 large cores at 2.60GHz, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores at 1.80GHz. This powerful configuration, totaling 10 cores, positions the Exynos 2400 as a formidable contender in the mobile platform arena.

The GPU component, Xclipse 940, is a game-changer, incorporating AMD's latest RDNA3 architecture. This ensures a significant boost in gaming performance and ray tracing capabilities. According to official statements from Samsung, the Exynos 2400 demonstrates a remarkable 70% improvement in CPU performance over its predecessor, the Exynos 2200, and an impressive 14.7 times increase in AI processing capabilities.

Detailed specifications leaked highlight the Xclipse 940's six computing units, operating at a remarkable frequency of 1095MHz—almost twice the frequency of its predecessor, the Xclipse 920. This enhancement translates to a substantial leap in overall performance for the Xclipse 940.

Geekbench 6 data, focusing on OpenCL tests, underscores the Exynos 2400's competitiveness with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, particularly in GPU performance. The Xclipse 940 achieved a commendable score of 14,918 points, with the Adreno 750 scoring slightly higher at 15,055 points, a marginal 0.9% difference. In Vulkan tests, the Adreno 750 maintained a lead with a score of 17,031 points, compared to the Xclipse 940's 15,479 points, reflecting a 10% performance advantage for the former.
