MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9300+ 5G Chip

On May 7, 2024, MediaTek officially introduced the Dimensity 9300+ flagship 5G mobile chip with advanced generative AI capabilities at the Dimensity Developer Conference (MDDC 2024). Since 2023, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 8300 mobile SoC chips have been recognized for their excellence in deploying on-device generative AI. The newly launched Dimensity 9300+ continues MediaTek's "all big cores" architecture, delivering a significant boost in AI performance.

The Dimensity 9300+ integrates four ultra-large Cortex-X4 cores, one of which operates at a frequency of up to 3.4 GHz. It also includes four large Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.0 GHz and a 12-core GPU supporting hardware-level ray tracing and Starry Speed Engine technology.

The Dimensity 9300+ introduces AI speculative decoding acceleration technology, providing a 120% increase in performance. MediaTek's Dimensity AI LoRA Fusion 2.0 technology with dual LoRA integration enhances efficiency and personalization for generative AI experiences. The chip supports the Meta Llama 2 7 billion parameter model, enabling speeds of up to 22 tokens per second. Dual LoRA fusion increases the speed of generative AI by 100% and reduces memory usage by 50%.

In gaming, the Dimensity 9300+ is optimized in collaboration with gaming companies to provide one hour of full-frame gameplay in popular games with a 20% reduction in power consumption. The chip partners with games like "Justice" to deliver fine 60-frame visual quality while reducing power usage by 10%.

The Dimensity 9300+ is equipped with a new large network quality monitoring system, offering hardware-level network optimization and forecasting network congestion 100 ms in advance. In weak Wi-Fi environments, it reduces data usage by 25% and lowers power consumption by 10%.

The launch of the Dimensity 9300+ establishes a powerful mobile platform for generative AI, expanding the Dimensity generative AI ecosystem in partnership with industry leaders like Google, Meta, Baidu, and ChatGPT. Dimensity mobile chips will also support cutting-edge large models from providers such as Alibaba Cloud’s Tongyi Qianwen and Zero-One Cosmos.
