Back when power banks were just emerging, their input and output were limited to 1A, which often wasn't sufficient for the larger capacity phones of that era. Charging would sometimes take all night and still might not fully charge the phone.
During that phase, there were various sizes and power outputs available, including this unique DIY power bank that recreates the Digimon Adventure 02 Digi-vice used by Daisuke. If you're curious, keep reading.
It uses a TP5000 charging chip capable of 2A switch charging. For discharging, it employs a PTN04050C, an ultra-small boost module with high efficiency, capable of outputting up to 12W at 5V2.4A—much more powerful than other commercial power banks of that time. It's powered by two 2.5Ah polymer batteries connected in parallel.
Despite its compact size, it includes a micro-camera, a 3W high-power LED, and a UV lamp. It can record video at 1280*960 resolution, provide illumination, and even verify banknotes.
The shell is crafted from 1mm transparent acrylic, hand-formed through heat bending and hand-painted. The button positions are almost identical to the original. It also features a voltage meter and four status indicator lights in the display area.
