If you're interested in refurbishing an emergency light, take a look at this article.
This emergency light from the 1990s has a dead lead-acid battery, a broken flashlight bulb, and a blackened fluorescent tube. So, how do you refurbish it? The switch and the casing are still in good condition. If you have a similar one, you can repurpose the original casing and switch to create an LED emergency light. The image shows an emergency light from the early 1990s, which is still in decent quality.
Start by removing the bottom cover; the charging wires are hidden inside.
The 6V 4AH lead-acid battery is no longer functional due to long-term undercharging.
The ballast that drives the fluorescent tube can be removed and reused for a DIY project, such as a lithium battery-powered ultraviolet sterilizer.
Here's the mainboard.
Next, prepare a lithium battery, which can be from an old phone.
You'll also need a protection board and a power bank motherboard (for charging).
Connect multiple phone batteries in parallel and solder on the protection board.
Now you have a daylight mode.
And here's the flashlight mode (which will actually be much brighter than shown in the picture).
