Apple to Replace Broadcom with In-House Wi-Fi Chips in iPhone 17

Analysts have revealed that, following Apple's decision to replace Qualcomm's 5G modem with its own C1 chip, the company is now set to substitute Broadcom's Wi-Fi chips with its own custom-designed solutions, with the transition expected to happen more quickly than anticipated.

According to the latest industry survey, all new iPhone 17 models launching in the second half of this year will feature Apple's in-house Wi-Fi chips. This is a significant shift from previous models like the iPhone 17, where only the ultra-thin version will use the Apple C1 modem. By moving to its own Wi-Fi chips, Apple aims not only to cut costs but also to enhance the user experience through improved connectivity across its product ecosystem.

Apple's new Wi-Fi chips are expected to support the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, which offers peak speeds exceeding 40 Gbps—four times faster than the current Wi-Fi 6E.

In addition, the iPhone 17 series is set to bring multiple groundbreaking changes. The upcoming iPhone 17, expected to launch in 2025, will introduce up to eight key innovations. Notably, the iPhone 17 Pro series will be the first to feature an aluminum body, a significant departure from the titanium material used in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 Pro models.

In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 Pro series will be powered by Apple's new A19 Pro chip, manufactured using TSMC's latest 3nm process technology. This new chip is anticipated to provide significant improvements in processing speed and energy efficiency.

On the photography front, all iPhone 17 models will see a significant upgrade to their front-facing cameras, with the resolution increasing from 12MP in the iPhone 16 to 24MP. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Pro's telephoto lens will be upgraded from 12MP to an impressive 48MP, catering to the demand for high-quality, long-range shots. Both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models will come equipped with 12GB of RAM.

These innovations are expected to redefine smartphone performance and design, providing consumers with a completely new and enhanced user experience.
