According to reports, Qualcomm has announced the launch of its 2025 Snapdragon G-Series gaming platforms, specifically designed for handheld gaming devices. The new lineup includes three models—Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, and Snapdragon G1 Gen 2—delivering optimized performance and an immersive gaming experience.
The third-generation Snapdragon G3 is the first in the series to support Unreal Engine 5's Lumen global illumination and reflection system, enhancing visual realism. Designed for Android handheld gaming devices, this platform delivers a 30% increase in CPU performance and a 28% boost in graphics processing compared to its predecessor, along with improved power efficiency. Additionally, it supports Wi-Fi 7, reducing latency and increasing bandwidth for a smoother gaming experience.
The second-generation Snapdragon G2 is engineered for dedicated gaming devices, supporting up to 144FPS gameplay and cloud gaming. It strikes an optimal balance between performance and efficiency, featuring a 2.3x increase in CPU performance and a 3.8x boost in GPU processing over its predecessor. The platform also supports Wi-Fi 7, ensuring faster and more reliable wireless connectivity.
The second-generation Snapdragon G1 is designed to provide stable performance for a broader audience, enabling up to 1080p 120FPS gaming via Wi-Fi. Tailored for Android handheld gaming devices with cloud gaming capabilities, it offers an 80% increase in CPU performance and a 25% boost in GPU power compared to the previous generation, delivering a seamless gaming experience.
Micah Knapp, Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, stated that the Snapdragon G-Series gaming platforms are redefining mobile gaming with advanced performance and immersive experiences. The next-generation processors will power the future of handheld gaming devices, enabling manufacturers and developers to innovate across a wide range of gaming applications.
Starting in the first quarter of this year, leading manufacturers such as AYANEO, ONEXSUGAR, and Retroid Pocket will begin launching handheld gaming devices powered by the new Snapdragon G-Series platforms.
