MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9400+ Platform

On April 10, MediaTek officially launched the Dimensity 9400+, a next-generation flagship 5G AI chip designed to deliver groundbreaking performance in generative AI and intelligent agent-based computing. As the latest member of the Dimensity flagship family, the Dimensity 9400+ offers superior support for mainstream large language models (LLMs), combining high intelligence, performance, energy efficiency, and low power consumption to redefine the premium smartphone experience.

The Dimensity 9400+ features a second-generation all-big-core architecture with an 8-core CPU. It includes one ultra-large Arm Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. This configuration ensures exceptional single-threaded and multi-threaded performance, enabling ultra-responsive, fluid user interactions across demanding applications.

Equipped with MediaTek's 8th-generation NPU 890 AI processor, the Dimensity 9400+ supports a wide range of global LLMs and advanced AI model techniques, including Mixture of Experts (MoE), Multi-head Latent Attention (MLA), and Multi-Token Prediction (MTP). With faster FP8 inference speeds and an enhanced SpD+ decoding engine, the chip boosts intelligent agent AI inference performance by up to 20%. It also incorporates the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine, enabling a shift from traditional AI apps to next-level agentic AI solutions.

For graphics, the Dimensity 9400+ integrates a 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU. It supports PC-grade ray tracing and leverages the Dimensity OMM Ray Tracing Engine to deliver detailed and realistic visuals, especially in scenes involving complex textures like vegetation, hair, and feathers. The result is immersive, lifelike gaming with strong graphic rendering and ray tracing capabilities. With MediaTek's Frame Rate Conversion 2.0+ (MFRC 2.0+), the chip doubles frame rate smoothness in collaboration with gaming ecosystem partners while reducing power consumption by up to 40%.

The chip also features the flagship-level Imagiq 1090 image signal processor (ISP), supporting full-range HDR and seamless zoom technologies. It ensures fluid zoom transitions and continuous autofocus, enabling content creators to capture vivid footage across focal lengths. The Imagiq 1090’s energy-efficient design extends video recording time while maintaining precise scene rendering in both visuals and audio.

Key highlights of the Dimensity 9400+ mobile platform include:

· Enhanced BeiDou satellite support for faster time-to-first-fix (TTFF), even without cellular coverage—improving positioning speed by 33%

Smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ are expected to debut later this month, ushering in a new era of intelligent mobile performance and power efficiency.
