According to recent reports, Qualcomm has officially completed its acquisition of Autotalks, a leading provider of V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication chipsets, through its subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies. The deal was first announced on May 8, 2023, and has now reached completion after more than two years.
This milestone follows earlier regulatory concerns that temporarily delayed the acquisition. As reported by Reuters in March 2024, Qualcomm was previously expected to abandon the deal due to delayed approvals. However, it appears that Qualcomm has successfully addressed those concerns, clearing the path for the transaction to close.
With this acquisition, Qualcomm aims to provide automotive OEMs and the broader smart mobility ecosystem with a comprehensive suite of globally deployable V2X solutions. These technologies are production-ready, automotive-grade, and suitable for integration into roadside infrastructure, passenger vehicles, and two-wheelers alike.
The expanded V2X portfolio is designed to support direct communication between vehicles and their surroundings, improving road safety, traffic efficiency, and enabling next-generation advancements in assisted and autonomous driving systems.
Autotalks' product lineup will now be integrated into the Snapdragon Digital Chassis platform. Qualcomm has confirmed continued support for existing DSRC and C-V2X initiatives, ensuring a seamless transition and extended innovation in V2X communications.
