Tomorrow (August 23) at 4:33:35, the Chushu solar term will arrive, marking the gradual dissipation of summer heat and the transition to cooler weather. This year, Chushu coincides with the first day of the seventh lunisolar month.

End of Heat (Chushu, 处暑) is the 14th of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar. It signifies the end of the intense summer heat, as the dog days of summer have either passed or are nearing their conclusion. The character "Chu (处)" in Chushu means "to stop" or "to cease," symbolizing the retreat of extreme heat and the arrival of autumn, representing a critical transitional period between summer and autumn.

The Chushu solar term is associated with many traditional customs. In terms of diet, there is a folk saying: "Eating duck during Chushu keeps autumn dryness at bay." Duck meat, with its cool and sweet properties, helps clear heat, reduce internal fire, and nourish the internal organs. Additionally, eating pears is also a Chushu tradition, as it aids in hydration, fire reduction, and phlegm moistening.
