If you also have an electric scooter and want to upgrade your headlights, this post might be worth checking out.
Electric scooters aren't ideal for city commuting at night — especially when cars turn on their high beams. You basically can't see anything. Plus, scooter headlights aren't very bright. If that sounds familiar, you can follow this DIY guide to improve your setup.
For this project, you'll need a dual-beam car projector lens — just make sure the size fits your scooter's headlight housing. That's all you need to start your mod. Of course, safety and legality come first — don't over-mod or make it noncompliant.
First, sand down the decorative cover a bit.
You'll also need three relays and a small prototyping board. Two relays handle the high/low beam switch, and the third one can be used to add a horn.
After wiring it up, power it on to test — as shown below, the headlight brightness is pretty good.
Next, remove the original headlight.
You can use a heat gun to soften the sealing glue, making it easier to take apart.
Then, drill and smooth out the holes, install the new projector into the housing, and use the original screw mounts to secure everything.
Once it's all assembled, you can reinstall it on your scooter — but be sure to adjust the headlight height properly, or you'll end up removing and reinstalling it multiple times.
The result looks great! Just remember not to set it too high, or your low beam will act like a high beam and create glare for others on the road.
