MediaTek Unveils 3nm Auto Chip Dimensity S1 Ultra

On October 17, 2025, MediaTek officially introduced its new Dimensity Auto Cockpit S1 Ultra, a flagship automotive chip built on a cutting-edge 3nm process. Combining high-performance computing, next-generation generative AI capabilities, and advanced graphics power, the S1 Ultra is designed to redefine the intelligent cockpit experience in next-generation vehicles.

The Dimensity Auto Cockpit S1 Ultra is built on a 3nm architecture featuring an all-big-core CPU design that delivers up to 280K DMIPS of computing power. Its hardware-level ray tracing GPU provides up to 4000 GFLOPS of graphics performance, enabling immersive in-vehicle entertainment and intelligent applications. The integrated NPU supports on-device generative AI with up to 53 TOPS of AI processing power, paving the way for more interactive, responsive, and personalized in-car experiences.

Powered by the Armv9 architecture, the S1 Ultra integrates high-performance AI computing units and a lightweight generative AI engine that accelerates multi-modal large language models (LLMs) directly on the vehicle. It can support models with up to 13 billion parameters, enabling advanced AI applications such as 3D visual voice assistants, multi-screen interaction, driver alertness monitoring, and AI-powered safety systems—all running smoothly on the vehicle's edge without cloud latency.

To help automakers speed up system integration and time-to-market, the S1 Ultra platform includes a built-in modem, 5G T-BOX, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS, along with a flagship-grade HDR ISP that supports AI-based noise reduction and scene optimization. Whether it's a complex road condition or a low-light environment, the chip delivers crystal-clear imaging for 360-degree surround view, in-cabin monitoring, and dash-cam recording.

For multimedia performance, the Dimensity Auto Cockpit S1 Ultra supports multi-display output of up to 10 screens with 8K 30fps or 4K 120fps video playback and recording. Combined with MediaTek MiraVision display enhancement technology, it delivers cinematic visual quality and immersive surround sound—bringing a theater-like experience to every journey.
