Today is October 29, 2025, the ninth day of the ninth lunisolar month, as we welcome China's traditional Double Ninth Festival. The festival originates from the "Book of Changes," where the number nine is considered yang, and the double ninth day (two nines) creates "Chong Yang" (Double Yang). According to the I Ching, nine is a yang number; the ninth day of the ninth month in the Chinese calendar (or double nine) has extra yang (a traditional Chinese spiritual concept) and is thus an auspicious date. Hence, the day is also called "Double Yang Festival" (重阳节).
