
According to multiple industry insiders, NVIDIA's next-generation GeForce RTX 50 SUPER series graphics cards are now expected to launch in the third quarter of 2026, marking a delay from the originally planned debut at CES 2026. While NVIDIA has never officially confirmed the existence of this product line, several reports indicate that the project remains active — albeit progressing at a slower pace.
Taiwan-based tech media Benchlife noted that this development may not technically qualify as a "delay." According to internal sources, NVIDIA has yet to share key materials — including GPU specifications, BIOS files, and thermal design guidelines — with its AIC partners. Without these details, board manufacturers cannot begin engineering validation or prototype testing, making an early 2026 release unlikely. The so-called "postponement," Benchlife suggests, is more a reflection of market expectations diverging from actual development timelines.
Earlier speculation suggested that tight GDDR7 memory supply and rising chip costs had forced NVIDIA to suspend the RTX 50 SUPER series. However, well-known leaker MEGAsizeGPU and Hong Kong tech outlet HKEPC later refuted these claims, confirming through internal sources that the series remains in development, with its launch window simply pushed back.
Traditionally, NVIDIA's SUPER models serve as mid-cycle refreshes that enhance VRAM capacity, core clock speeds, and slightly increase power consumption over standard models. For manufacturers, this typically involves refining cooling designs and updating firmware before bringing the cards to market. But without finalized design documentation from NVIDIA, these steps remain on hold.
Analysts believe the company is currently prioritizing AI data center products and the Blackwell GPU architecture, given the strong global demand for AI computing. This shift may have slowed progress on consumer graphics card development. Meanwhile, GDDR7 memory production ramp-up delays could further influence the release schedule for NVIDIA's next wave of high-end gaming GPUs.
