DIY Stylish Hearing Aid Using an MP3 Case

There are many ways a DIY hearing aid can look, and in this article, we're making a stylish one using an MP3 case. You can follow along and DIY one yourself.

You'll need an MP3 case like the one shown in the picture below:

The great thing about this case is that it has enough internal space, looks stylish, and is also affordable.

Once you have the MP3 case ready, you'll need to carve out a bit around the TF card slot with a knife. This way, the potentiometer fits just right. Once the case is prepared, you can start working on the circuit board.

It's a good idea to have a few extra boards on hand, just in case.

Next comes all the soldering. If you don't want to use electrolytic capacitors, you can go with 1206 SMD, 22uF; the results are still pretty good.

Considering the thickness, you'll need to make recessed holes for the op-amp and potentiometer positions. You can also use a mercury switch.

The assembled result looks like the picture above.

You can pair it with Xiaomi earphones, and it works really well. Once finished, the product can be charged for 5 minutes and then used continuously for several days. Plus, the battery has built-in charging protection, so you can charge it directly with 5V through a diode.

Be careful when making the small hole for the microphone. Using a soldering iron might not give a very clean hole, so you can use a more precise tool.

A hearing aid like this works perfectly fine for daily use.
