DIY Mini Speakers: Metal Sound from Cans

If you happen to have two empty beverage cans after finishing your drinks, you can suddenly get an idea to make a passive mini speaker with a metallic sound tone, suitable for playing some classical music.

Find an unused marker pen and take out the ink refill.

Use the ink from the refill to dye the cans.

Both cans are now dyed.

If you happen to have a pair of 3Ω 5W speakers.

Use the speakers to measure and mark the positions, and prepare to cut holes.

Use a small knife to remove the metal plate at the top.

The cans now have holes cut.

Try fitting the speakers into the cans, and you will find they fit snugly.

If you happen to have two identical control boards from emergency exit lights.

Remove two identical connectors from them.

Find a pair of red and black wires.

Solder the wires onto the connectors.

Drill small holes at the bottom and pass the wires through.

After threading the wires through, fix them with glue.

Solder the speaker wires.

Make sure the insulation is properly done.

Align everything and place it in position, then fix it with all-purpose glue.
