According to industry reports, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has signed a multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) supply agreement worth approximately KRW 300 billion with a major global company for artificial intelligence (AI) server applications. The company has now secured long-term agreements (LTAs) totaling around KRW 2.3 trillion in the AI component sector.
On July 23, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced that it had entered into a supply contract worth approximately KRW 295.1 billion with a global customer. The contract value represents about 2.6% of the company’s consolidated revenue last year, with the agreement scheduled to run for one year from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2027.
Under the agreement, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will provide high-performance MLCCs for AI servers and data center systems. The company stated that the deal reflects market recognition of its advanced MLCC design capabilities, high reliability under extreme temperature and voltage conditions, and comprehensive manufacturing quality management systems.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been steadily expanding its long-term supply agreements focused on AI server components. In May, the company signed a long-term agreement valued at approximately KRW 1.5 trillion for silicon capacitors (Si-Cap). In June, it also secured an AI server MLCC supply contract worth about KRW 450 billion with a global cloud service provider (CSP).
Industry analysts noted that securing multiple large-scale long-term MLCC contracts in succession is relatively uncommon, as MLCCs are increasingly regarded as critical strategic components that directly impact the stability and performance of AI infrastructure.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics currently holds more than 40% of the global AI server MLCC market, competing closely with Japan’s Murata Manufacturing as one of the leading suppliers. The company is actively discussing mid- to long-term supply plans with global customers to secure stable demand and accelerate the transition of its product portfolio toward higher-value components.
