If you are often troubled by power outages and lighting problems, you can come up with the idea of making a remote-controlled lamp. This way, you do not need to use a switch or extend a long wire for control.
If you happen to have these materials, including a wireless remote control module, a waterproof box, a 10W LED lamp, and a lamp holder, you can start building it. The production method is actually very simple. You only need to connect the wires, pair the remote control module with the remote controller, and then the lamp can be used.
You can also install a voltage meter to check the battery voltage occasionally. When the battery voltage becomes low, you can recharge it. Since the battery is a 12V lead-acid battery removed from an electric vehicle and does not have a protection board, you should recharge it when the voltage meter shows around 11.5V.
The no-load current of the connected module is about 13mA. It consumes around 0.3Ah of power per day in standby mode. If you calculate the retired battery capacity as 16Ah, it can stay in standby mode for about 50 days.
When the LED lamp is turned on, the working current is 0.59A. It consumes about 1.2Ah in two hours and around 1.5Ah per day. Therefore, the battery will be fully discharged in about 10 days. You only need to recharge it once a week to prevent the battery from being over-discharged.
There is also a 5W LED lamp version. It is estimated that you only need to recharge it once every two weeks.
