CXMT DDR5 Yield Reportedly Surpasses 90%

According to reports, Chinese memory manufacturer ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has made significant progress in DDR5 chip production, with its yield rate reportedly exceeding 90%. The performance is said to be approaching that of major memory manufacturers such as Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron.

CXMT is reportedly manufacturing DDR5 memory chips using a 17nm process and has achieved a yield rate of around 90%. This is only 2 to 3 percentage points below Samsung’s reported yield of approximately 92% to 93% for comparable-generation products.

At present, CXMT DDR5 products are relatively widely available in China’s South China spot market, with purchases based on specific pricing and specification requirements. On the end-product side, CXMT memory chips are gradually entering mainstream supply chains. HP, ASUS, and Acer are reportedly advancing certification processes and have begun using small quantities of CXMT DDR5 memory in selected laptop models.

Consumer devices equipped with Chinese-made memory are primarily targeting the Chinese market and overseas markets outside the United States. ASUS and Acer are reportedly prioritizing China and emerging-market models, while HP is focusing on products sold in China. Dell, meanwhile, is reportedly maintaining restrictions on the use of CXMT memory chips.

Apple is also reportedly testing memory products from CXMT and Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. (YMTC) to evaluate the feasibility of using them in devices sold in the Chinese market.

In the capital market, ChangXin Memory Technologies Co., Ltd. (688825.SH) closed at RMB 61.80 on August 17, up 12%. Its market capitalization reached RMB 4.13 trillion, setting another record high since its listing. Trading volume exceeded RMB 33.5 billion, with a turnover rate of 12.57%. Its market value increased by more than RMB 442.8 billion in a single session, pushing its total capitalization above RMB 4 trillion.
