Anthropic Valued at $2 Trillion, Reportedly Eyes Nasdaq IPO

According to people familiar with the matter, Anthropic PBC has selected Nasdaq as the venue for its potential initial public offering (IPO), which could become one of the largest IPOs on record. The company is reportedly considering raising as much as $100 billion through the offering at a valuation of around $2 trillion.

The developer of the Claude AI chatbot is planning an IPO that could raise an amount comparable to or even greater than SpaceX’s record-setting offering. The listing could take place as early as October, although the timing and size of the IPO remain subject to change.

A successful Nasdaq listing would mark another major milestone for Anthropic this year. The four largest U.S. IPOs in 2026 have all taken place on Nasdaq, including SpaceX’s record $86.3 billion IPO in June. A few weeks later, SK hynix went public in July, raising $26.5 billion.

Anthropic’s potential IPO comes as concerns over the risks associated with rapidly advancing artificial intelligence technology continue to grow. On Saturday, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Elon Musk all said that the pace of AI development may need to slow because of increasing safety risks. Altman also said that OpenAI does not plan to go public this year due to safety considerations.

Anthropic was also reportedly preparing to complete a $15 billion revolving credit facility in early September, providing the company with additional financial flexibility as it continues to expand its AI infrastructure and operations.

The global AI race has also helped fuel activity in the IPO market. According to compiled data, U.S. IPOs raised approximately $160.6 billion in 2026, excluding special purpose acquisition companies and other financial instruments. The figure represents the highest annual IPO fundraising total since 2021.

Anthropic’s current business performance has also accelerated significantly. Its annualized revenue is expected to exceed $65 billion, representing more than sevenfold growth from the level recorded at the end of last year. The rapid expansion highlights the growing commercial demand for AI computing, cloud infrastructure, advanced processors, and other technologies supporting the AI ecosystem.
