At the Turkish Export Promotion Conference held recently, the country's Trade Minister Mehmet Mus publicly conveyed the government's interest in developing local semiconductor manufacturing.
Mehmet Mus introduced that Turkey's export growth in the first seven months of this year was gratifying, setting a new record. In addition to primary products such as agricultural products, as a major manufacturing country in the Middle East and West Asia, Turkey's exports of industrial products have also grown rapidly, and foreign investment applications received by export-oriented manufacturing industries have doubled compared to last year.
Minister Mus also mentioned that digitalization is the general trend of future economic development, and the demand for chips will be higher and higher. Although it is impossible to fully grasp all industrial links, Turkey will also try to cut in some areas. He also cited the country's proverb, "The mill doesn't turn, only the water flows" to stress the need for the semiconductor industry to stand on its own.
Mus also revealed that Turkey is actively preparing conditions for the development of the local semiconductor industry. He pointed out that semiconductor manufacturing is very dependent on water resources. If Turkey wants to become a semiconductor manufacturing power, it needs to prepare for the supply of this basic resource.
