On August 26, according to relevant media reports, a person familiar with the matter revealed that before the end of this year, the US Department of Justice may launch an antitrust lawsuit against Apple.
It is reported that the US Department of Justice has been investigating Apple since 2019. The Justice Department argues that Apple has abused its market power to stifle small tech companies, including app developers and hardware makers, thereby stifling competition.
Multiple teams of prosecutors within the Justice Department are gathering material for a possible lawsuit, the person said, suggesting a protracted investigation is at a critical juncture and lawsuits could come soon.
As of the close of U.S. stocks on the 26th, Apple’s stock price fell about 3.8%.
The Justice Department is also expected to file an antitrust lawsuit against Alphabet Inc.'s Google over its dominant online advertising business, the report said.
