TSMC September Revenue Jumps 54.6%, Q3 Hits Record High

According to TSMC's announcement on October 8, 2026, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) reported consolidated revenue of NT$511.857 billion in September 2026, down 0.6% from August but up 54.6% year over year, setting a new record for September revenue. In August, the company recorded revenue of NT$514.806 billion, its highest monthly revenue on record at that time.

For the third quarter of 2026, TSMC generated total revenue of NT$1.494 trillion, an increase of 17.62% quarter over quarter and 51% year over year, marking a new quarterly record. Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 reached NT$3.899 trillion, up 41.1% from the same period last year and setting a record for the first three quarters.

TSMC had previously forecast third-quarter revenue of US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion. Based on the exchange-rate assumptions provided during its earnings guidance, the company's actual quarterly revenue exceeded the upper end of that forecast. This performance highlights the continued strength of AI-related demand and improving capacity utilization across advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes.

Industry observers attribute TSMC's record quarterly performance primarily to robust demand for artificial intelligence chips and increased production of new smartphone models. Demand for advanced 3nm and 5nm process technologies remained strong, while the gradual ramp-up of 2nm production is expected to provide additional support for future growth. These trends underscore the growing importance of advanced logic chips in AI computing, data centers, and next-generation consumer electronics.

Market attention is now turning to TSMC's third-quarter earnings conference scheduled for October 15. Investors will be watching for updated guidance on AI demand, fourth-quarter revenue, and the company's full-year outlook. Further details on capital expenditure, 2nm capacity expansion, advanced packaging capacity, and global manufacturing plans will also be key indicators of TSMC's investment strategy and the broader semiconductor industry's growth trajectory.
