According to an official announcement, Microchip Technology has agreed to acquire VORAGO Technologies, a privately held company based in Austin, Texas, that specializes in radiation-hardened and radiation-tolerant microcontrollers (MCUs) and microprocessors (MPUs).
Microchip stated that the financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on Microchip's consolidated financial results.
“From terrestrial defense systems to satellites and space-based platforms, our aerospace and defense customers are designing systems that must operate reliably in increasingly demanding and complex environments,” said Steve Sanghi, President and CEO of Microchip. “The acquisition of VORAGO strengthens our ability to support the development of these demanding markets and reinforces our commitment to investing in technologies aligned with our long-term growth strategy.”
