Broadcom Secures $63B AI Chip Deal for Anthropic

According to a joint statement issued on October 26, Broadcom has reached a $63 billion financing arrangement with Bank of America, Blackstone, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley to support AI company Anthropic's purchases of semiconductor chips.

The deal will be structured through a newly established special-purpose vehicle (SPV). The participating financial institutions have committed to funding the purchase of Broadcom chips and leasing them to Anthropic. Broadcom will provide residual value support for part of the financing, helping underpin the transaction.

Earlier in October, reports indicated that a Wall Street banking consortium led by Broadcom was arranging approximately $60 billion in additional financing for AI chips to support Anthropic and other companies. Bank of America, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley were among the institutions involved.

The financing deal took several weeks to develop and has attracted significant attention from Wall Street and Silicon Valley. As concerns grow over opposition to data center expansion and uncertainty about future AI infrastructure demand, the transaction offers a sign of continued investor interest in funding AI development.

Broadcom is seeking to expand its semiconductor and data center equipment business as it competes with NVIDIA in the AI hardware market. Meanwhile, Anthropic and other AI developers require increasing computing capacity to train and operate advanced AI models, driving demand for high-performance chips and supporting infrastructure.

The agreement also highlights the growing role of debt financing in AI infrastructure investment, which has already reached hundreds of billions of dollars. Much of this capital is directed toward data center construction, while financing arrangements for chips and servers are becoming increasingly common.

In August 2026, NVIDIA announced a partnership with six major financial institutions, including Blackstone, aimed at mobilizing more than $500 billion for AI-related investment. The initiative also included efforts to help customers secure financing for NVIDIA chip purchases, underscoring the intensifying competition to fund the expansion of AI computing infrastructure.
