Oracle OCI to Adopt Arm AGI CPUs in Fall 2027

According to Oracle, the company plans to introduce Arm AGI central processing units (CPUs) into its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) platform in fall 2027. Announced at Oracle AI World, the initiative will provide customers with high-performance computing capabilities based on Arm architecture, supporting both existing cloud applications and the development of next-generation agentic AI services.

The announcement builds on the partnership between Oracle and Arm, following Arm's disclosure at COMPUTEX in June that OCI would join the Arm AGI CPU ecosystem. The latest development establishes a clearer deployment timeline and outlines Oracle's plans to make Arm AGI computing capabilities available to its cloud customers.

Mahesh Thiagarajan, President of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, said that Arm-based computing is an important part of OCI's strategy to deliver performance, efficiency, and flexibility to customers. He added that Arm AGI CPUs are expected to extend these advantages to general-purpose cloud workloads and agentic AI applications, giving customers more high-performance computing options to scale their applications and develop new AI services.

The opportunity extends beyond established cloud workloads to the growing computing demands created by artificial intelligence. AI agents rely on applications, databases, and cloud services to complete tasks. As these agents execute code, retrieve data, call tools, and coordinate operations, they generate additional CPU workloads. Cloud infrastructure must therefore deliver efficient and consistent processing performance to support these increasingly complex tasks at scale.

Arm AGI CPUs combine high-performance Arm Neoverse cores with high memory bandwidth and a design intended to maintain consistent performance under demanding workloads. These capabilities can help data centers process more work within power and thermal constraints while meeting the performance and energy-efficiency requirements of cloud applications and AI agent systems.

Through its collaboration with Oracle, Arm aims to extend the adoption of its computing architecture across both existing enterprise workloads and emerging AI applications. The planned OCI deployment in fall 2027 represents another step toward expanding Arm-based computing in cloud infrastructure and supporting the development of future agentic AI services.
