SK hynix opens new M15X plant in Cheongju, South Korea next month

On September 6, according to SK hynix official news, in order to lay the foundation for future growth, SK hynix will build a new semiconductor production plant M15X (eXtension) in Cheongju, Chungbuk, South Korea.

SK hynix plans to start the construction of M15X in about 60,000 square meters of land in the Industrial Park of Cheongju Science and Technology City, South Korea in October this year, and aims to complete the construction in early 2025. It plans to invest a total of 15 trillion won in the next five years to build the M15X factory and introduce production. equipment.

The M15X is a duplex structure, and its size is similar to that of the two existing Cheongju M11 and M12 factories combined. In addition, SK hynix will determine the start time of the new M17 factory plan nearby, taking into account the business environment such as semiconductor market conditions.

SK hynix said that SK hynix, which was incorporated into the SK Group in 2012, has been investing for 10 years centered on the "future outlook" announced in 2015. The content is that a total of 46 trillion won has been invested since 2014, and a total of 3 additional factories will be built, including the Icheon M14. The company completed M15 in Cheongju and M16 in Icheon in 2018 and 2021, respectively, realizing its future prospects ahead of schedule.
