According to Korean media SBS Biz, Meta is negotiating with Samsung Display and LG Display, two major panel makers, on the supply of panels, which will be used in future AR and VR devices.
In recent days, dozens of executives at Meta's U.S. headquarters have been confirmed to have privately met with staff from Samsung and LG Display, the sources said. Late last month, Meta head office executives visited LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, and met with LG Display research team executives.
According to industry insiders, it is understood that Samsung and LG Display have discussed cooperation in the high-resolution display business inside Meta's VR and AR devices.
Meta is promoting cooperation related to virtual reality equipment for future business. At the end of last month, Meta released a VR and AR device called "Meta Quest Pro", and plans to release a large number of related new products next year.
It is reported that Meta is negotiating with Samsung Display and LG Display for the supply of two types of panels, MicroOLED and MicroLED. The former is used for the VR glasses they will launch, and the latter is used for AR glasses. LG Display has successfully developed a related display called "Oledos", and Samsung Display is currently developing related Micro LED products.
