Dimensity 9400 GPU Test Data Revealed

During the imec technology forum at SEMICON Taiwan 2024, MediaTek's CEO, Cai Lixing, announced that the highly anticipated Dimensity 9400 mobile flagship chip is set to debut in October.

Recent reports suggest that the Dimensity 9400 will deliver a blend of high performance and energy efficiency, featuring significant upgrades across its specifications. Benchmark tests for the GPU have indicated impressive results, achieving a Vulkan frame rate of 134 fps in the GFX Aztec 1440P off-screen test, outperforming competitor products by 86% and 41% respectively. The Dimensity GPU has consistently demonstrated exceptional capabilities since the Dimensity 9300, and the latest iteration promises to be even more compelling.

Additionally, the Dimensity 9400's GPU performance in the 3D Mark tests shows a 30% advantage over competing products, while consuming approximately 40% less power at equivalent benchmark scores. The chip also boasts a nearly 20% improvement in ray tracing performance and introduces a pioneering ray tracing technology for mobile devices, comparable to top-tier PC solutions, elevating graphics quality to new heights.

The Dimensity series has consistently set benchmarks in the Android ecosystem, with the Dimensity 9400 poised to enhance gaming experiences significantly. Beyond GPU advancements, the chip features substantial upgrades in CPU and memory performance. The single-core CPU performance of the Dimensity 9400 surpasses its predecessor by over 30%, requiring only 30% of the power consumed by competitor chips in similar scenarios. Coupled with the "world's fastest" 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X memory, it is expected to lead the mobile SoC CPU performance rankings, ensuring uncompromised performance for mobile devices.

Manufactured using TSMC's second-generation 3nm process and featuring the Armv9 architecture, the Dimensity 9400 utilizes MediaTek's exclusive big-core architecture for remarkable performance and energy efficiency improvements. The chip also includes enhanced generative AI capabilities, promising consumers a revolutionary experience in imaging, gaming, energy efficiency, and AI applications.

MediaTek reports overwhelmingly positive feedback from clients regarding the Dimensity 9400, with initial model adoption expected to exceed that of the Dimensity 9300. The flagship product revenue growth for 2024 is projected to surpass 50%.
