Nordic Semiconductor, a leading Norwegian wireless chip manufacturer, has agreed to acquire fellow Norwegian company Novelda, a specialist in ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, for an undisclosed amount. Both companies have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI), with the acquisition subject to satisfactory due diligence, final board approval, and other conditions. The due diligence process is expected to be completed by the end of November.
Novelda has built a solid reputation in UWB technology, particularly in early-stage commercial applications. Its expertise lies in using UWB radio frequency for sensing, such as occupancy detection, which complements Nordic's leadership in low-power wireless communication.
