NVIDIA, AMD to Supply Chips for Saudi AI Data Centers

On May 13, Nvidia announced a strategic agreement to deliver hundreds of thousands of advanced AI chips over the next five years to Saudi Arabia-based AI company Humain. These chips will power a 500-megawatt AI data center project in the region.

The initial phase of the project includes 18,000 units of GB200 Grace Blackwell chips, along with Nvidia's InfiniBand networking technology, designed to accelerate high-performance AI computing.

Humain also revealed a parallel partnership with AMD, outlining a $10 billion investment plan to build out its AI infrastructure over the next five years.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made the announcement at the Saudi-American Investment Forum in Riyadh, where he appeared alongside other top U.S. tech leaders, including AMD CEO Lisa Su, during a visit with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Huang emphasized that artificial intelligence demands significant energy, and Saudi Arabia—rich in energy resources—is well-positioned to leverage Nvidia's technologies to drive new innovations in AI.

During the visit, Trump referred to Huang as "a good friend," signaling strong U.S.–Saudi cooperation in the tech sector.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that the Trump administration is considering lifting previous restrictions on exporting advanced AI chips to Middle Eastern companies with ties to regional governments. Insiders indicate that this move could pave the way for the U.S. to support the region's ambitions to become a global AI powerhouse.

Following the announcement, Nvidia's stock surged more than 5.6%, while AMD rose over 4% and TSMC's ADR climbed 3.7% in U.S. trading on the same day.
