Recently, Intel has officially launched three new processors under its Xeon 6 series, designed to meet the demanding needs of high-performance computing and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. These advanced processors feature Performance-cores (P-cores) and integrate Intel's innovative Priority Core Turbo (PCT) and Speed Select Technology – Turbo Frequency (SST-TF). Together, these technologies deliver customizable CPU core frequencies that significantly enhance GPU performance during intensive AI tasks.
Among the three newly released Xeon 6 models, one—Intel Xeon 6776P—has been selected as the central processor for NVIDIA's next-generation AI acceleration platform, the DGX B300 system. The Xeon 6776P plays a vital role in managing, coordinating, and supporting operations within the AI infrastructure. With outstanding memory capacity and bandwidth, this processor is well-suited for handling increasingly complex AI models and large-scale datasets.
The introduction of PCT and SST-TF technologies brings a notable boost to system performance. PCT allows high-priority cores to run at higher turbo frequencies, while lower-priority cores operate at base frequencies—enabling optimal allocation of CPU resources. This is particularly important for AI workloads that require sequential or serialized processing, as it improves data transfer speeds to the GPU and enhances overall system efficiency.
