Apple 2026 iPad Mini to Feature OLED Display

According to sources, Apple plans to equip its 2026 iPad mini with an OLED display for the first time, with Samsung Display set to be the exclusive supplier.

Insiders reveal that Samsung Display is scheduled to begin mass production in July 2026 for the iPad mini's 8.4-inch OLED panels. These panels will feature a single emission layer combined with low-temperature polycrystalline silicon thin-film transistor (LTPS TFT) technology. Thanks to the relatively lower production costs of this technology, Samsung Display will handle the exclusive supply, with an anticipated annual output of around 3 million units.

The OLED-equipped iPad mini is expected to launch in the third or fourth quarter of 2026. This will mark Apple's second tablet to adopt OLED technology, following the iPad Pro lineup.

Market research firm Omdia recently highlighted in a report that OLED tablet panel shipments are projected to surge by 39% year-over-year in 2026, reaching 15 million units. From a manufacturer perspective, Omdia noted that Samsung Display is expected to supply higher volumes for both the iPad Pro and the upcoming iPad mini, driving significant growth in OLED panel production next year.
